Progressive Leader Program
Enhancing Opportunities For Future Leaders
The Progressive Leader Program is a six-month workforce readiness initiative designed to guide emerging leaders through a structured journey—from developing self-awareness to achieving workplace confidence and preparedness. In partnership with the University of Houston–Downtown’s Marilyn Davies College of Business, Cohort 3 launched on January 29, 2026.
This cohort is composed of Ted Bauer Foundation Scholarship recipients—motivated young leaders dedicated to shaping their futures. Many participants enter the program without professional networks, meaningful workplace relationships, or clear guidance on how to navigate professional and social environments; the program is intentionally designed to equip them with these essential skills and connections.

Professional Development – Transferable Skills Training
During the first six weeks, students gain the essential skills, tools, and confidence to transition successfully into the workforce:

- Week 2: Discover Your Personal Brand
- Week 3: Resume & Cover Letter Review
- Week 4: Interview Skills & Confident Communication
- Week 5: Networking & Professional Etiquette
- Week 6: Workforce Confidence & Final Presentations
Mentorship
We know that Mentorship is a key driver of leadership success. Many first-generation students, however, lack access to professional networks and the guidance needed to build meaningful mentor relationships. We remove these barriers by pairing students with experienced professionals and providing a structured mentorship framework to guide the relationship every step of the way.
Internship
Internships are critical for career readiness and long-term success. First-generation students often face challenges in accessing opportunities and navigating professional environments. We bridge this gap by connecting students with internship placements and equipping them with the tools, preparation, and support to thrive.
